Who uses the InPen?

The InPen, (Smart Pen) is for people who take multiple daily insulin

doses (MDI) & helps them to better manage their diabetes. The app

provides reminders to take insulin. The app includes an easy dosing

calculator. Get the right dose every time.

Cost

The InPen lasts for one year. It does not need to be recharged. It will

alert you when the battery is going low. The cost is

from

$0 (for patients with comprehensive insurance) and up to $549

for those without coverage). Covered by a one-year warranty

Works with most

current I-phones & Androids.

Competitors are:

-Novo Nordisk (NovoPen6/Echo),

-Eli Lilly (Tempo Pen)

.As of this writing, the Medtronic InPen is the only one in this category

that is FDA approved.

Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) that the InPen works with

currently?

Medtronic Simplera CGM system was designed for the InPen app. The

InPen doesn’t currently integrate with the Abbott Freestyle Libre sensor

but they are working on this technology. Works with Dexcom G6 & G7

but there is a 3-hour delay in readings.

Which fast-acting insulin does the InPen work with currently?

Compatible with

Novolog, Humalog and Fiasp cartridges.

The InPen won’t allow for stacking doses (over dosing).
